Forint coins: | 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200-Forint |
Euro coins: | 5, 10, 20, 50-Eurocent, 1, 2-Euro |
At some particular ticket machines you can also use banknotes to pay. The ticket machines accept the following banknotes:
Forint banknotes: | 500, 1000, 2000-Forint
Remember that in case of overpayment in banknotes, the ticket machine does not give the change back! |
Euro banknotes: | 10, 20-Euro
Remember that in case of overpayment in banknotes, the ticket machine does not give the change back! |
The colourful graphic displays of the ticket machines are not active in stand-by mode, the machine can be activated by pushing the switch-on button in the left corner of the keyboard. The default language is Hungarian but by pushing the language button (two flags), English (GB) or German (D) languages can also be selected. The information appearing on the colourful graphic display instructs you step-by-step to buy the ticket.
The display is not a touch screen; you must enter the appearing numbers by pressing them on the keyboard to proceed with purchasing the ticket.
After you have received your ticket, please place it on the dashboard behind the front windscreen where it can be seen well from the outside.
If the ticket machine is out of order, you must find another machine in the same zone (or a higher tariff zone) or pay for your parking on your mobile phone (cellphone).
Penalty Charge
Parking fine must be paid if you park without paying the tariff in a pay-zone, or if you exceed the paid parking time by 5 minutes in case of having paid for less than one hour, and by 15 minutes in case of having paid for one hour or longer time.
You will find the amount of the parking fine in the notification (Penalty Charge Notice, PCN) in a red penalty bag placed on the windscreen of your vehicle.
The calculation of the parking fine is regulated by laws:
- If the fine is paid within 15 days, its amount is 13 times the price of one hour parking
- If the fine is paid after 15 days, its amount is 41 times the price of one hour parking.
The parking fine can be paid in person, by using the designated yellow cheque enclosed to the PCN in the Post Offices of Hungary or at the Customer Service of Zugló Parking Office ( 73-77 Nagy Lajos király Road, Budapest 1148).
